Sought: Wal-Mart shoppers who trampled NY worker

http://ping.fm/JknsT

At Wal-Mart yesterday, a man lost his life. Since that incident I have heard cried for lawsuits against Wal-Mart and now this… “the store didn’t have enough security.” That according to Detective Lt. Michael Fleming, a Nassau County police spokesman.

My question is this then. Why did Wal-Mart at this location need more security than others? What made this crowd of 2000 any different?

You see, what the media doesn’t want to play with, is the fire of suggesting that not all mobs act alike. Often times just one person can turn a peaceful mob into an unruly one. This group of buyers acted different. They killed a man. Reports indicate that the actually broke the doors down at 5am (when the store opened) in an effort to get inside. The worker was merely letting them in. These animals knocked him over and what I find absolutely appalling, is the lack of attention that was given to the man after he was knocked over initially.

“Dozens of store employees trying to fight their way out to help Damour (victim) were also getting trampled by the crowd, Fleming said. Shoppers stepped over the man on the ground and streamed into the store.”

WHAT IS WRONG WITH WAITING TO LET A GUY STAND UP!!!

Remember, all it would have taken was one person in that crowd to bend over and help the man up. ONE PERSON!

All across this country we hear stories of good Samaritans and neighbors helping neighbors… where were they at in New York? I suspect it is because…

“Kimberly Cribbs, who witnessed the stampede, said shoppers were acting like “savages.” When they were saying they had to leave, that an employee got killed, people were yelling ‘I’ve been on line since yesterday morning,’” she said. “They kept shopping.”‘

This crowd acted like savages. On a witness stand, this one witness could probably put some people behind bars.
The point to remember is this. They were savages before 5am. People don’t lose their manners in an instant. They don’t become indifferent to a man’s life suddenly. It wasn’t the deal on the Samsung 50-inch Plasma HDTV that CAUSED anyone to kill this man. The truth is, some people still haven’t learned how to live civilly in a civil society.

When I worked for Coppertown (a chain of drive-thru coffee shops) we once gave coffee away for a whole day! Funny, the customers never ran into each other, and I don’t even recall a honk. Some people understand the concept on a line and waiting in one. Some people understand that it isn’t always about ME.

It is such a relief to see that in the vast majority of the country, huge crowds somehow found it possible to make it through the day without killing anyone. In one city though, a different crowd formed. A criminal one. One that was so unaware of their humanity they destroyed life and left “a metal portion of the frame crumpled like an accordion.”

Thankfully we have a place for criminals who destroy property and murder for money. God speed detectives. Catch every last one and put them away so those of us who know how to behave, can live in peace while we shop.
