New Zazzle.com income, but no cigar.

July 18, 2008 · 1 Comment

I have some new “sales” that just showed up on my Zazzle.com account. I am now up to $8.50 in commissions! Ya! Here is my screen shot for proof.

I love the Zazzle.com model because of one thing, it is cool. Lets face it, it is a way cooler platform than cafepress.com
I think that sizzle sells and zazzle has the sizzle. :)

This revenue is strictly from Facebook ads. I have spent more than $8.50 in advertising but I stopped the ads at the beginning of the week. I plan an doing more ads in future but with ads that are more specific in nature. Stay tuned!

CrazyEgg.com

July 16, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Crazy Egg is a great tool I found through a video on youtube that helps you determine who is clicking on your links within a post or anywhere on your site, as well as how many times a link is clicked on. The main visual tools are Overlay, List, Heatmap, and the new one, Confetti.

The Overlay feature is designed to provide click details about particular elements within your site. It provides you with the number of clicks as well as the percentage of clicks based on the number of visitors. This is a great tool for fine tuning keywords for links as well as improving placement by seeing how well people are actually finding links.

The List feature again for learning what links people are finding. Each link is ranked per their number of clicks and percentage of total clicks for the page. This is a nice quick reference to see how specific links are doing or not doing on your site if you are focused on advertising and link through campaigns.

It isn’t hard to see why Heatmap would be a favorite of mine. It references all the clicks on the page in an image that resembles a thermal sensor. It is not only really cool looking, but it is also extremely helpful in learning click behavior of your audience and when used properly, can be an wonderful asset in improving link placement. Very quickly you will be able to see the “path” if you will of the hundreds of mouses that scurried across your page. This will help you learn where to place links, i.e. in the middle of the road!

They now have a newer feature called Confetti. It is every analysts pipe dream. Tons of great and sometimes useless data about your visitors along with another very nice visual reference of the geographical location of clicks on your page. A click-analysts’ heaven.

I foresee some really neat applications coming from the use of these tools. Knowing where, exactly down to the pixel, your clicks are occurring may not seem important at first glance, but if you add that information to a little bit of knowledge of human behavior related to visual references, colors, and so forth, and you can create a highly tuned site maximized for the willing or unwilling eyes of any visitor. Imagine pricing your ads based on your Heatmap!

Here is one youtube video showing you how it worked on one guy’s site.

Check it out and leave comments if you have used this site before. I am very interested in hearing what other have learned about their sites through crazyegg.com

Zazzle.com Affiliate Program

July 10, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Zazzle.com looks like a really cool site!  Commissions are only 7% but there is a ton of traffic thru that site and lots of opportunity to be unique in your marketing.  I just put up a Facebook ad for some Obama shirts.  The ad hasn’t been approved so we will have to see how it works out.  I also created a “custom” brand or logo and put it on some clothes.  Again, I never thought this stuff could be so much fun!

Zazzle is pretty cool in that it lets you customize just about anything in only a couple minutes.  In other words, you can take a plain shirt, upload a picture, size, customize, and tada!  Done.

Here is my gallery of custom pieces. Too Cool

Income thus far is $00.00.  :) Again though, I am really enjoying myself.  Haven’t spent too much money thus far so I am content rolling along learning as I go.

More clicks, more “no”s, and more fun.

July 9, 2008 · Leave a Comment

First and foremost,  I have had a blast.  Sure, I have spent a few dollars in advertising but I know that my first commission check will be such an encouragement, I can hardly wait.

Lots more clicks with all my ads.  The good news is my Amazon.com Associate page is showing that I have had 10 clicks.  So I am pretty confident that the links are working, there is just a delay in getting them to show up in the report.   Most of the clicks have been on the Kindle ad.  I believe that a lot of those are what I am going to call right now, “curiosity clicks”.

Thus far I have really been impressed with Amazon’s affiliate program (they use the word Associate).    It looks clean but there are plenty of numbers for people like me who enjoy perusing them.    It is also interesting to note the tiered rate of commissions.  Currently it says that if I refer 7 more people (paying customers) my 4% commission rate turns into 6%.    That’s cool.   Here is what Amazon has in their help section about it.

How much do I earn for generating sales through my links?

You earn referral fees whenever a visitor follows a link from your Web site to Amazon.com and makes a purchase. Under the Classic Plan, you earn 4% for both Amazon and third-party items; under the Performance Plan, you earn from 4% to 8.5%, depending on your shipped items volume for both Amazon and third-party items. You can earn a maximum of $25 in referral fees on personal computers–for all other product groups, referral fees are unlimited. Please note that we do not pay referral fees on Auctions and zShops items, or items from any external site to which we link, e.g., Shutterfly.com.

I have received several more “no”s from would be affiliate companies.  The most common reason for denial is lack of traffic.  Boy, I couldn’t agree with that assessment more, we need more traffic.  :)

I am a visual person so I enjoy seeing illustrations of what I am learning.  So, for the other Sid-alikes out there, I will try to put some examples of ads and such that I will be using.  I just have to figure out how to do all that.  :)

Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting journey!

Amazon Affiliate Program

July 9, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Today I was approved as an Amazon Affiliate.   I do not think it is a very big deal to “get in” the circle.  I didn’t even have to give them my IQ or blood type.  Whew.   I put three ads on Facebook with links to Amazon.com with my affiliate tracking ID embeded in the link.  I have received 11 clicks today per my Facebook Ad Manager but my Amazon Affiliate page only shows 2.  So, if by tomorrow that number hasn’t grown, I am going to assume I messed up with the links and am going to have to redo the ads.   Stay tuned for that…

My ads are pretty simple.  I put out two ads for the new Kindle and one for Amazon.com Gift Cards.  According to their web site, affiliates receive a 6%  commission on gift cards and 10% on the Kindle.

Based on the cost per click of my facebook ads (Avg. CPC = $0.57) it will be hard to make gift cards pay for themselves.  For example, a $20 gift card would only pay out $1.20 in commission.  That means that one in three clicks would have to buy a minumum of of $20 dollars in gift cards just for me to break even… not good numbers I believe.

Welcome to iloveonlinemoney.com!

July 7, 2008 · Leave a Comment

What this site is about:

Make money online. Period.  Ever wanted to make money online?  Didn’t know how?  Don’t trust the countless sites begging for your money to show you “how” to make money online?  If so, we are very relatable.

We at ilovonlinemoney.com are determined to give you the very best information and facts in the industry.  We believe that money can be made online but that most of us don’t have time to sign up to every affiliate program, learn how to write code, or browse dozens of sites looking for a real and valuable program that will bring us the financial peace we all want.

We hope to bridge that gap here.  Take you to the end of your working life and help you start your new life being job optional.
It is my personal goal to see each and every one you financially free.  Together, we will research the programs, find the good ones, discuss them here, and launch our own campaigns.

What this site is not:

A scam. I am as real as it gets.  Online money is real and so are we.

A get rich quick site.  As you will see as we develop this site, ads will stay at a minumum (we have to pay for it too), information will be filtered to ensure spamming on our forums is kept to zilch, and we make no promises.   Sorry, not good enough yet.
